Welcome to Max Genner Online; also known as the Max Genner home page or the personal web page of Maxwell Genner from Sutton Hill, Telford in Shropshire.

This page is intended to provide details on our family, interests & life in the Ironbridge Gorge (birthplace of industry) in Telford, whilst also giving an insight into my passion for gardens & gardening.

My wife; Hazel Genner & I were originally from Brierley Hill in the "Black Country" region of the Midlands (central England).

Hazel & I have 6x children, all of whome are married. Kevin Genner is married to Joanne Genner (formally Joanne Edwards), Mandy Genner (now Mandy Barrett) is married to Kevin Barrett, Beverley Genner (now Beverley Nickolds) is married to Phil Nickolds, Levison Genner is married to Karen Genner (formally Karen Vanstone), Hayley Genner (now Hayley Edwards) is married to Paul Edwards & Mitchell Genner is married to Ellerde Genner.

We moved to the (then new) town of Telford in Shropshire approximately 30 years ago, because my then employers; Cresta Sewing Machines had relocated from Dudley. However; Cresta Sewing Machines did not survive, but "gave birth" to Cresta (Window) Blinds.

I continued to work for Cresta Blinds as Sales Manager for many happy years prior to my retirement.

Telford is now our home in every sense of the word & is known as the birthplace of industry & the home of the industrial revolution. As such, Telford contains a number of internationally famous museums & is world famous for the Ironbridge Gorge which is home of the worlds first iron bridge (in the village of Ironbridge) on the River Severn.

We moved to Telford in 1966/1967. At that time it was known as Dawley New Town & had been set up by the UK government as help alleviate housing shortages in urban areas such as Birmingham, London & Liverpool by providing modern accommodation in a rural setting & providing initiatives (such as a tax breaks) to entice companies to re-locate. Dawley New Town was long ago re-named Telford. Telford is now a thriving community of Salopians, ex Londoners, ex Brummies, ex Scousers & ex Geordies and is undoubtedly one of the nicer places to live.

Having said the above, Hazel & I try to make the most of our retirement by caravanning in France & holidaying in the States (we are particularly fond of Las Vegas).
